We have done a wonderful job in November and December gathering food for the community, about three times the typical number of bags of groceries. Let’s keep it up in 2026!
On the second Sunday of each month we collect food, and helpers always assist with loading it in my car. The next Tuesday I take it to the St. Leo’s Food Connection at St. Leo’s Catholic Church on Yakima Avenue, and they usually help unload it, so I have it easy coming and going.
We also recently received a cash donation, so we have created an account in our books for a Feeding Ministry Fund. Once a quarter we will donate the accumulated funds to St. Leo’s Food Connection—online by the Church debit card, no muss, no fuss. Please feel free to give that way, if going to the store and lugging the groceries to church is a bother for you. Just be sure the donation is marked for the Feeding Ministry or Food Bank. Those in the business tend to recommend cash contributions, they can make a dollar go further than we can at the grocery store. You can give directly to St. Leo’s too, if you prefer, although it is nice to see our collective effort.
The next Food Bank Sunday is January 11, 2026. Non-perishable foods, healthy, not past their expiration date, please.
